Hearing at a seminar that all traders are drug addicts or a strong Russian word is nothing more than the norm, and Gerchika never promises mountains of gold to anyone, but tells the harsh realities of the stock exchange world. However, Gerchik, like any person, was once a beginner, so his biography and path to success may not be of any interest.

Alexander Gerchik was born on September 13, 1971 in the sunny port city of Odessa. His family was of average income, however, like any Odessa resident, he had just a huge entrepreneurial vein. The sea coast, ports and tourists - all these factors instill entrepreneurial spirit in Odessa residents from childhood.

After the fall of the so-called Iron Curtain and the collapse of the USSR, Alexander in 1993 decided to conquer another state and emigrated to the USA.

First acquaintance with the stock exchange

Unlike many famous traders who conquered Wall Street, Gerchik did not have a prestigious education at all, or even a financial one, and only had a food industry technical school behind him. Without speaking English and without any diploma, the only thing he could count on in the USA was working as a taxi driver, where only his license was important.

Naturally, Gechik took advantage of this opportunity and fully mastered this profession. As Alexander himself recalls at his conferences, it was very difficult for him, because at that time there were no navigators, and the language barrier with clients gave rise to a lot of conflict situations.

However, due to the nature of his profession, Gerchik very often transported various traders and brokers to the financial district.

Once, when Gerchik was giving a trader a lift, they asked him how old he was, and when they found out, they advised him to get acquainted with the world of finance. After a frank conversation, Alexander began to take a more active interest in the profession of a trader and, without hesitation, began asking his clients about how to start training.

Having learned that a special license is required for brokerage activities in the USA, Gerchik decided to take a four-month course, at the end of which he successfully passes a very difficult exam and receives a long-awaited license.

For the first half of the year, Alexander worked as an assistant broker in a small company that specialized in managing client funds, or more precisely, in consulting. Having gained some practical experience, Gerchik decides to change his type of activity and moves to Worldco.

Ups and downs

The Worldco company specialized in intraday trading, or more precisely, day trading. This style implied closing transactions within the trading session ( day trading), and Gerchik himself never worked in this style.

Constant nervous stress and ridiculous mistakes due to the newcomer’s ignorance led to the fact that in three weeks Alexander completely lost his deposit. Having given up his hands, Gerchik met a Japanese trader who advised him to minimize losses, namely, try to work with minimal risks, and profit would be a pleasant bonus.

A fundamental change in approach led to Gerchik successfully increasing his deposit from 10 thousand dollars to five million dollars. Since 2003, Alexander has become the chief trader of Hold Brothers and is also a member of the general directors.

In 2006, famous in narrow circles, Alexander Gerchik became a TV star, as he became a participant in a CNBC television project dedicated to stock exchange pros. Alexander turned out to be the most break-even trader out of 2,000 candidates and had the longest positive statistics.

Alexander Gerchik constantly conducts on-site seminars in Kyiv and Moscow, which you can sign up for on his official page.
