Price movement speed script

When analyzing the foreign exchange market, it is necessary to pay attention not only to such characteristics as trend, flat and direction of price movement, but also to its speed in Forex.
Almost every practicing trader has noticed that having opened a series of transactions at different times of the day, but under the same conditions, the speed of closing it (achieving profit or stop orders) will be radically different.

This is primarily due to the speed of price movement at a certain moment. So, if you drive news trading, the speed of reaching the stop order and profit will be significantly different than when a transaction is opened with the same goals and risks, but in quiet times.

The price movement speed factor can directly affect the effectiveness of your open trades, because even experienced traders they claim that a deal is considered successful if it goes into profit in the first seconds and does not remain in place.

However, a completely logical question arises: How to measure the speed of price movement? In order to measure speed, there is a special advisor assistant, TickSpeed, which measures speed with millisecond accuracy.

Installing TickSpeed in MT4

In order to install TickSpeed, go to the end of the article and download the advisor itself. The next step to do is enter the data directory through the file menu.

Next, find the expert folder and drop the file into it, then restart the trading platform. TickSpeed will appear in the list of advisors, and in order to start measuring speed, drag the advisor onto the chart of the currency pair of interest.

Working with TickSpeed data

When plotting the Expert Advisor on a chart, you will not find any graphical data on your screen, since the Expert Advisor generates a special report in the form of an Excel file. In order to access it, go to the same terminal data directory, but at the same time open not the folder in which you added the advisor, but the folder called Files.

By opening a file called Speed, you will see a table with six columns. So in the first column A the current time will be indicated, in column B the current price, and in column C the current time in milliseconds. Columns D and E display the price and time of the last tick, and columns F and G display the difference in points and seconds between the last tick and the current tick.

In conclusion, I would like to note that TickSpeed collects a simply enormous amount of data, since measurements occur in ticks and milliseconds. Therefore, be sure to limit the assistant's running time or regularly delete the file after analysis, as the file can fill up all the disk space on your computer in a matter of days.
