Should you admit that you are a trader?

One of the most valuable things in life is peace, and one of the components of peace is how people treat you.

Having started earning money as a trader, I began to consider this occupation as my specialty and when asked “What do you do?” I boldly answered “Trader”.

In most cases, such an answer evoked only negative emotions in people, which affected their attitude towards me.

Some began to consider me a slacker who sat at home and did nothing and began to offer to go to a real job, others assumed that I had a huge amount of extra money and tried to borrow.

But in one case or another, honesty was punished by the negative attitude of these people towards me.

Communicating with familiar traders, I found out that almost everyone who does not hide their real profession faces this problem, not only in Russia, but also abroad.

After several unpleasant incidents, it was decided that telling the truth in our lives is not at all necessary and no matter how beautiful the “Trader” profession, covered in myths and legends, sounds, its owner cannot count on a normal attitude from others.

But what should you tell your friends and relatives when they ask what you live on and what you do for work?

I tried a lot of options until I found the optimal answer.

• I make money on the Internet - as a rule, after such a phrase there are many more additional questions that you have to answer and people still look at you with suspicion.
• I work as a web designer - after this phrase it turns out that everyone needs a website, and everyone starts trying to order one from you. It takes a long time to refuse such work.

Finally the correct option:

I work for a company that does online advertising.

This phrase immediately implies that you are in a real job; most people are not interested in this field of activity.

And if there are those who start asking about organizing an Internet advertising company in my company, I answer - “I don’t recommend it, it’s very expensive here, you can find a cheaper analogue.”

After that, people just thank me, because I didn’t try to make money from them. As a result, for several years now I have experienced peace of mind when I hear this question, no one looks at me askance or offers me a job.
