Setting up SMS messages from MetaTrader

Traditionally, the trading process is perceived as constantly monitoring the movement of the trend on the computer screen.

This observation allows you to identify when the price will make a sharp jump or reach a certain point on the chart of the currency pair.

But in fact, it is not at all necessary to constantly spend time in front of the monitor; it is enough to record only certain price movements and open trades at these moments.

In order to automate the process of receiving signals, the MetaTrader trader terminal provides the “Alerts” function.

It is this that allows you to report a desired event with a sound signal or even send messages to an email address.

But in the first case, you need to be at home in order to hear the sound signal, and in the second, you need to have a normally working Internet connection on your smartphone or iPhone.

Unfortunately, both are not always possible; it would be much easier to receive SMS messages about signals in the metatrader over the mobile network.

It turns out that this is not at all difficult to do, just spend a couple of minutes, and you will always and everywhere know as soon as the price reaches a given level.

Setting up notifications for new emails

And so, if you have already configured Alerts in the metatrader so that the signals received in the terminal are sent to your email address, you can now proceed to the settings of the email itself.

This is quite easy to do, if not for one thing, not all email services allow you to send SMS messages about new incoming letters.

For example, in the same gmail.com I did not find such a function and, as they answer in the service support, it simply does not exist. But in mail.ru there is such a function and you can activate it in a few clicks; to receive SMS, you just need to have the phone number of the Russian operator MTS, Megafon, MOTIV, AKOS (Rostelecom) or purchase an operator data card.

Afterwards you can move on to the settings themselves. To do this, open your mailbox on your personal computer and click on your mailing address in the upper right corner, select “Mail Settings” from the drop-down menu:

On the page that opens, go to the “Notifications” folder Notifications of new letters:

Then select “SMS notification settings” and on the tab that opens, activate this function:

From additional settings you can choose:

• Which folders will be reported about letters from – report all incoming ones, or set up a filter and report only letters sent from the metatrader.
• The time when you can send SMS is around the clock or at a certain period of time.
• How often - once every half hour or once an hour. Unfortunately, you can receive messages no more than once every half hour.
• Your time zone – this is what some previous settings are based on.

This option is only suitable if you do not have a stable mobile Internet, otherwise it will be more effective to immediately install a postal agent or a trader’s mobile terminal .
