Dario Mofardin: An Atypical Trader's Success Story

How many incredible stories do you know of traders who somehow managed to reach the top of the trading world? A multitude of examples immediately come to mind.

However, all of these traders are either typical insiders whose success is based solely on their advantageous access to information, or they were able to realize their potential solely on the stock exchange.

The most interesting thing is that it is very difficult to find success stories directly related to the foreign exchange market, which, due to its accessibility, is more popular among ordinary people.

It's almost impossible to find a trader who has used exactly the same tools in their trading as you, despite the fact that most of them have long been written off.

However, such people do exist, and one of them is Dario Mofardin, who in turn is the most versatile and flexible trader in the world.

Dario Mofardin never mentioned his early years and childhood in his interviews with journalists, with the exception of the story of how he ended up in the foreign exchange market. A trader with over twenty years of live trading experience, he's been in love with the stock market practically since childhood, and he opened his first account with a forex broker as soon as the law in the US allowed it, at age 18.

The thing is, his best friend's father was a true trader, operating independently from home. As a young boy, Dario was captivated by this simple way to earn money without leaving home, and he immersed himself in his studies.

Dario chose his education to help him build a successful trading career. In fact, before enrolling at Deakin University in 1990, he had already had a very successful year of trading.

In an interview, he noted that during that period there were excellent upward trends, and every single one of his positions was open for purchase, which allowed him to earn an impressive sum in the first year.

However, as soon as the market changed, he gave away almost everything he had earned. At the initial stage, he was guided only by technical analysis, namely, traded from levels within the trading day.

At university, one of his professors was also a professional trader who practiced in the options market.

The meeting between a student who was actively trading at the time and a teacher with real trading experience proved fateful for Dario's future career. The teacher took responsibility and recommended his student to the Portland House Group for an analyst position.

However, after analyzing the young trader's statistics, his superiors saw greater potential in him, as he managed risks very skillfully.

Therefore, after working for less than six months, he was assigned to the son of the chief director, who was a trader in the bond market and was a master of Elliott's wave theory.

Alongside his work, Dario continued his studies at Melbourne Business School, graduating with an MBA.

After two years as a trader, Dario Mofardin decides to radically change his career.

So, after leaving the company, he moved to Morgan Stanley, and four years later to Lehman Brothers. At these companies, he was an investment banker in charge of mergers and acquisitions.

According to Dario Mofardin, this allowed him to significantly expand his horizons as a trader, he finally realized the importance fundamental analysis and drew some parallels between the event and the market reaction.

As he claimed, having been in such negotiations, you begin to understand the whole inside story of stock price movements.

Since 2008, Dario has founded Mars Capital Partners, where he is actively involved in global client wealth management. The fund invests in a variety of markets, from forex to bonds and equities.
