Basic settings of MetaTrader 4, customizable.

Like any program, the trader's terminal requires additional configuration after installation. You can leave everything as is, but it's advisable to make the work more comfortable and, therefore, more productive.

The main settings that should be changed in MetaTrader 4 are the chart display, navigator, and quotes window.

Let's start changing the settings with the currency pair chart:

• One instead of 4 - close unnecessary windows, leaving only the chart of the desired currency pair. If there is none, open its chart by simply dragging the currency pair with the mouse from the quotes window. If necessary, you can restore the simultaneous display of multiple windows.

• Line, bars or Japanese candlesticks - there are three chart types available in the trading terminal, and most traders prefer Japanese candlesticks. Let's be no exception and change the appearance in the top menu on the "Charts" tab to "Japanese candlesticks" or by pressing Alt+2.

• Scale - choose the one that suits you best, the most informative for your trading time frame. The scale is changed with Ctrl (+;-) or on the (+;-) tab in the back menu. If desired, you can change the chart window itself by hovering the mouse over the vertical or horizontal border; the cursor will change and will look like a double-sided arrow; we fix it with the left mouse button and drag it in the desired direction.

• Candlestick color - I prefer that ascending candles are displayed in green and descending candles in red. This way, bullish and bearish candles are immediately visible, which creates a more complete picture of the market.

Enable the "Navigator" feature in the top menu by clicking "View" - "Navigator." A new window will then appear on the terminal screen displaying your accounts, indicators, expert advisors, and scripts . This means everything is always at your fingertips.

Edit the quotes window, or as described in the "Market Watch" terminal, by simply deleting unnecessary instruments, leaving only the currency pairs you need. To delete, select a currency pair or other asset and press Delete on your keyboard.
