Swap size for currencies, stocks, futures and other exchange assets
For those trading within a single day, the swap rate isn't particularly important, as this fee is charged as a fee for rolling over a position.
If you open and close trades on the same date, you're only charged the spread, and no swap is charged.
It's a different story if you prefer to hold a position for several days or even months, where this parameter can play a significant role.
Furthermore, there's a strategy called carry trading, which allows you to profit from the difference in interest rates.
Therefore, in this case, it's a good idea to know the swap rate to take this figure into account when calculating your financial results or planning your trading strategy.

A fee is also charged for carrying over trades on cryptocurrencies, stocks, metals, and indices. This fee can be calculated not only in pips but also as a percentage. Typically, the annual percentage is indicated and divided by 365 to determine the daily fee.
For example, for cryptocurrencies, regardless of the trade direction, the swap commission is currently -20% per annum, meaning 20/365 = 0.05479.
If we open a trade of $10,000, then we will need to pay $10,000 x 0.05479/100 = $5.479 per day.
The swap fee for these assets is:
- Cryptocurrencies – short trades - 20% per annum or 0.05479% per day
- Company shares – short positions -3% long positions -6% per annum.
- Indices - -3% long -6% per annum.
- Gold - +0.5396 pips and -11.5959 pips per day.
- Silver – +0.0098 and -0.0256 per day.
Moreover, the swap size for the listed assets, unlike currency pairs, is practically the same across different accounts, which makes it possible for even small investors to open long-term transactions.
