Ilan 1.6 Dynamic is probably the most popular trading expert that I have seen on the Forex market over the past seven years.
This robot first appeared in 2007, winning the Forex advisor competition.
Since then, the discussion of the advisor has not subsided, and every year new modifications appear, more functional and profitable. I have already posted a couple of modifications of this expert on the site.
For example, advisors SILENT ILAN, OBOS DIVERGENCE, SWB. All these advisors and hundreds of paid and free advisors that you know are simply modifications of the Ilan 1.6 Dynamic advisor.
The essence of the advisor's algorithm is that for each unprofitable position, the advisor opens a new position after a given number of points with an increased lot. Thus, the advisor’s algorithm calculates that sooner or later the price will turn in our direction and our last order with an increased lot will be able to cover the losses of a series of previous orders. This method is actively used when playing roulette in casinos and is called martingale. Yes, yes, it was in 2007 that this epic began with the Ilans and a bunch of monkeys)
Installing the advisor is very simple and takes no more than two minutes. To work with the expert, download it at the end of the article and place it in the expert folder through the data directory in your terminal. After restarting the terminal, the advisor should appear in the list. Next, simply place the advisor on the chart.
As I noted above, the advisor is based on martingale. As you probably already understood, to work in this way you will need a fairly large amount of money, because very often there are movements of 300-500 points, and a series of unprofitable orders will accumulate and accumulate to the point that you simply do not have enough money on deposit. Therefore, I recommend working with an advisor on a demo account, where, for example, 10,000 will be equivalent to 100 dollars on a cent account .
Among the settings in the advisor, I would like to especially highlight such a column as LotExponent, which is responsible for the multiplication coefficient of the lot of the next position in the case of a losing order. The DefaultPips line is responsible for the number of points after which the next order will be opened in the event of a losing position. In the Lots line, you can specify the initial lot from which the first position will be opened. The Expert Advisor uses the readings of the standard RSI indicator to enter a position. The advisor buys when the rsi indicator line is from 0 to 30 and sells when the line is from 70 to 100. Thus, you can optimize these levels in the advisor settings.
I will do the first test for the entire 2014 on the euro/dollar currency pair. By the way, the advisor is multi-currency and can be used on any time frame. The result of the first test is shown in the picture:
As you can see, a typical situation occurred in which the advisor simply did not have enough funds to cover a series of unprofitable positions. After looking at the settings, I decided to change the LotExponent parameter from 1.4 to 1.6 by eye without optimization, and also increased the distance between orders to 40 points. I also decided to conduct a test with the same settings on the pound/dollar pair. You can also see the result in the picture:
In both cases, the drawdown reached 60 percent, and the profit barely crawled past 40 percent. I would like to note that I did not perform any optimization, but just changed the settings offhand based on experience. In general, the advisor can show decent profits, but you must understand that the advisor can drain your account at any time, so I recommend withdrawing profits at the first opportunity.
