Advisor Ten. Catching profit with a grid of orders

Unfortunately, technical analysis , namely some of its tools, can demonstrate completely opposite effectiveness on different currency pairs.

Moreover, since market analysis involves taking into account many factors, from the direction of the trend to finding an entry point, the trader has to use many tools at the same time.

This situation leads to the emergence from year to year of more and more complex trading tactics, which are no less effective, but, on the contrary, vulnerable to the slightest changes in the asset.

At the same time, grid strategies, focusing on the average volatility of an asset with proper optimization, provide the highest efficiency, and this despite the fact that a minimum set of tools is used.

You will get acquainted with one of these Forex advisors based on a grid-based strategy without an indicator strategy in this article.

The Ten Advisor is a fully automatic trading robot based on a non-indicator grid strategy using pending Buy Stop and Sell Stop orders.

The Advisor does not use any technical indicators, but focuses on oscillatory price movements, which are captured using a grid of orders in both directions.

The robot is not picky about the currency pair or time frame; moreover, it can work on all assets known to us, which makes it multi-currency.

However, it is worth understanding that grid advisors react very sharply to the volatility of certain assets, so Ten needs to be optimized for each currency pair separately.

Installing the Ten Advisor

The Ten advisor is a relatively new development, as it was created at the beginning of 2018 for the MT4 trading terminal.

Since the robot itself was published free of charge in the official library of the terminal developer, you have the opportunity to install the robot in two ways, namely through the library, or through the terminal data directory, after downloading the advisor file.

To download and install the robot through the library, launch your trading terminal and open the “Tools” panel. Then, switching to the “Library” tab, do a simple sorting so that only advisors are displayed.

The next step is to find the Ten advisor in the list and use the additional menu, as shown in the image below, to download:

If installation via the library is not possible, you can always install according to the standard scheme.

To do this, download the robot file at the end of the article, and then drop it into the appropriate folder in the terminal data directory.

Then, in order for the platform to be able to see the installed file, you will need to restart it or update the navigator panel.

After the terminal is updated, Ten will appear in the list of advisors, and in order for it to start trading, just drag it onto the chart of the currency pair you have chosen.

Trading strategy.

Settings The Ten Expert Advisor is based on a non-indicator grid strategy that involves searching for strong price momentum.

So the advisor places two grids of Buy Stop and Sell Stop a certain distance from each other at a given distance from the price.

Each order has its own stop order and profit. After the orders are triggered, the grid is tightened, and the profit is fixed using a trailing stop.

So in the Stoploss and Takeprofit lines you can change the value of loss and profit for each grid order in points.

In the TrailingStop variable you can change the distance in points from the trade opening point, upon passage of which the trailing stop will be activated.

The trailing step can be set in the TrailingGap variable (the value is specified in points). In the PriceOffset variable you can change the distance in points from the price at which the order grid will be placed.

The Interval variable allows you to set the distance in points between grid orders, and the OrdersLimit variable allows you to set the maximum number of pending grid orders in one specific direction.

The BalanceRiskPercent variable allows you to set the risk percentage per position to calculate the volume of a pending order.

Testing the Expert Advisor

As an experiment, we decided to test the Expert Advisor with default settings on history.

The test took place on the Euro/Dollar currency pair on an hourly time frame for the entire 2017.

What came out of this, see below:

As we expected, the advisor immediately lost the entire deposit without proper optimization, since the developer’s parameters were not tailored to this currency pair.

Therefore, after the simplest optimization, the test results changed as follows:

In conclusion, it is worth noting that the Ten advisor is a very young development, however, even at the first stage of its existence, the robot is capable of generating stable profits with proper optimization.
