Installing the Auto Profit Advisor
To conduct your own testing and use the Avto Profit advisor, you'll first need to download the expert advisor file at the end of this article and then install it on your MT4 trading platform.
Installing the Avto Profit advisor is virtually no different from installing any other robot. You'll need to copy the downloaded expert advisor file to the appropriate folder in your data directory.
You can access the data directory by opening the File menu and selecting "Open Data Directory" from the list of options. Once you open the data directory, you'll see a list of the platform's system folders, including a folder named "Expert.".
Drop the downloaded file into the folder, then close the data directory. For the terminal to see the installed advisor, you must update it in the navigator panel or simply restart your trading platform.
After restarting the terminal, Avto Profit will appear in the list of advisors, and to start trading, simply drag its name onto the chart of any currency pair you choose.
Auto Profit Advisor Strategy Settings
The Avto Profit advisor is a modernized Ilan, whose algorithm and strategy have been streamlined. The expert advisor is based on a very simple, indicator-free system strategy based on a comparison of bar closing prices.
The expert advisor examines the two bars preceding the signal candlestick, and if the closing price is higher than the previous two, it will open a buy position. If the closing price of the signal bar is lower than the previous two, it will open a sell position.
After opening a position, the advisor closes the order at profit, and if the price moves against the position, Avto Profit begins averaging the loss using a series of martingale orders.
Regarding the expert advisor's settings, the developers have tried to make them as accessible as possible for ordinary traders by labeling the blocks in Russian.
In the MMType block, you can enable or disable martingale in the Expert Advisor. The LotMultiplicator variable controls the lot multiplier when martingale is enabled, and the distance between open orders can be specified in the Step line.
The LotConst or not variable enables dynamic lot calculation, which will change as your balance grows. For example, if you select True, the expert advisor will open a position with a specific percentage of the deposit, which you can set in the RiskPercent field.
If you turn off dynamic lot, then the expert will open the first one only with the volume that you specify in the Lots line.
The TakeProfit variable allows you to set the desired profit in points, and the MaxTrades variable limits the maximum number of simultaneously open orders. The EA also provides the ability to lock in a loss when a certain deposit drawdown occurs.
So, in order to activate this feature, in the UseEquityStop line, select True, and in the TotalEquityRisk line, do not forget to set the maximum drawdown as a percentage of the deposit.
Testing a robot in the strategy tester
To get an objective picture of the effectiveness and potential of the Avto Profit advisor, we decided to test it in the strategy tester for the entire year of 2016.
According to the creators of Avto Profit, the robot is effective on the five-minute chart of the EUR/USD currency pair, which is why we chose it. All settings are default. The test results are below:
