Growth Bot
Advisor Growth Bot is one of the veterans in the field of automated trading in the Forex market, since the
robot was created in 2010.
This development, unlike other similar robots, has six-year monitoring, which shows the history of the ups and downs of the advisor on a real account.
The peak of popularity of the Growth Bot advisor was the period from 2010 to 2013, when the balance curve grew at such a speed that all fans of automatic trading showed interest in it.
However, starting from 2014, a bad streak came, and the adviser rapidly ate up the profit earned within three years. Many Internet resources have already written off Growth Bot and transferred it to the category of so-called leakers.
Installing the advisor
Growth Bot uses proprietary indicators and a unique algorithm focused on market volatility . To launch the Expert Advisor in the MT4 trading terminal, you must first install all components.
To do this, enter the terminal data directory through the file menu and place the library files in the Libraries folder, the advisor in the expert folder, and the indicators in the indicators folder.
The next step is to update the installed components of the advisor. To do this, go to the “Navigator” panel of the terminal and click update. After installing the advisor, drag it onto the chart of the euro/dollar or pound/dollar currency pair with a fifteen-minute chart.
Expert settings
The developers of Growth Bot have included a rather weak arsenal of settings, which makes the expert quite difficult to optimize. In the Lot Size line we indicate the lot with which the advisor will open orders. It is worth noting that Growth Bot can hold up to five simultaneously open transactions, so enter the value based on your capital.
The Fast, Slow, Base Volatility Facto parameters indicate the volatility value, thanks to which the expert determines the trend in the market.
The Profit Target line indicates the percentage of profit for one trade, and the Stop Loss line indicates the percentage of loss per trade. You can also enable trailing in the Use Wave Trailing line. The TrailProfitRisk line specifies the trailing value as a percentage of profit.
In the Re-Invest Capita line, you can enable reinvestment, which means that when the capital increases, the advisor will automatically increase the lot .
Backtesting the Expert Advisor
In order to objectively say whether an expert is capable of generating profit at this stage or not, it is necessary to run it on history in a strategy tester and draw the necessary conclusions based on the data obtained.
We will conduct the first test of the advisor on the Euro/Dollar currency pair on a fifteen-minute chart. We chose the most current test period, namely from January 1, 2015 to March 10, 2016. Due to the fact that the expert does not average the deposit for testing, we set it to $300, which is most often used by beginners when getting acquainted with the exchange. Test result:
During this period, the expert's profit amounted to 100 percent of the deposit with a maximum drawdown of 31 percent. Over such a long period, the advisor made 625 transactions, and the percentage of profitable ones was 35 percent, but due to a competent approach to capital management, the result is obvious.
The second test was carried out for the same period and under the same conditions as in the previous version, but on the Pound/Dollar currency pair. Test result:
As a result of both tests, one can observe rapid growth and sharp declines, which tells us about possible bad periods for the expert’s work.
In general, in the long term, Growth Bot can provide a stable income with relatively low risks, but for it to close a month with a loss is a normal occurrence, and not something extraordinary.
