Martingale Advisor - OBOS Divergence
OBOS Divergence is a profitable martingale with a unique news filter. I first encountered this advisor back in 2013 on the Forex Factori forum, where this modification was posted
the SWB advisor Back then, everyone avoided this expert advisor, but the skillful hands of a local trader managed to not only revive it but also make it more profitable.
For the advisor to function properly, you need to install two additional indicators: FFCal and Derivative Oscillator, which are included in the EA archive. To do this, place the indicators in a folder named "indicators" and the advisor itself in the "expert" folder.
The Martingale Expert Advisor is designed for trading the EUR/USD and GBP/USD currency pairs. Recommended timeframes range from M5 to H1. The advisor can be used on any currency pair, but it needs to be configured first.
Setting up the Martingale Expert Advisor.
In the EA settings, you can enable a news filter by switching the mode to true in the News Filter field. You can also specify in the MinsAfterNews line how many minutes before the news the EA should wait to open positions. In the MinsBeforeNews line, you can set the time period after the news the EA should wait to open positions.
Many traders prefer to work on accounts with floating spreads. Many brokers widen their spreads before news, so in the EA, you can set the maximum spread in points at which the EA can open a position.
Since the EA is a classic martingale , in the Range line, you can set the number of points at which the next order will open in the event of a losing position. In the Level line, you can set the maximum number of orders the EA can open in the event of a losing position. In the Start Lot line, you can specify the EA's initial lot. As with any martingale, in the Increment line, you can set the lot multiplier in the event of a losing position. The Tp in money menu displays the profit in the deposit currency.
The advisor includes three indicators. The first is a 10-period moving average, the second is an Envelope indicator with a 38-period, and the third is a Derivative Oscillator. All settings can be optimized.
Initially, I decided to test the advisors with the default settings. As it turned out, the advisor is completely unsuitable for trading in modern conditions and completely wiped out my account.
Based on my account loss analysis, I decided to optimize the EA settings. First, I increased the increment multiplier to 1.7 and also increased the maximum number of orders to 10. The testing results exceeded all my expectations, and you can see the results in the graph below:
However, you should still exercise caution, as the EA uses a martingale strategy, and if the trend continues, it could wipe out your account. Before deploying the EA to a real account, it's worth testing it for a long time on cent accounts.
