Martingale Advisor - OBOS Divergence
OBOS Divergence is a profitable martingale with a unique news filter. I met the advisor back in 2013 on the Forex Factory forum, where this modification was posted in the thread on the SWB advisor about which I wrote earlier.
Back then, everyone avoided this expert, but the skillful hands of a domestic trader were able to not only revive it, but also make it more profitable.
For the EA to work properly, you need to install two more indicators: FFCal and Derivative Oscillator, which are in the archive with the EA itself. To do this, place the indicators in a folder called indicators, and the advisor itself in the expert folder.
The Martingale advisor is designed for trading on the euro/dollar and pound/dollar currency pairs. Recommended time frame from m5 to n1. In principle, the advisor can be used on any currency pair, but it must first be configured.
Setting up the Martingale advisor.
In the advisor settings, you can enable a filter on news; to do this, in the News Filter column, switch the mode to true.
You can also specify in the MinsAfterNews line how many minutes before the news the advisor should not open positions. In the MinsBeforeNews line, you can specify how long after the news the positions will not be opened by the advisor. Many traders prefer to work on accounts with a floating spread.
Before news, many brokers widen the spread, so in the EA you can set the maximum spread in points at which the EA can open a position. Since the advisor is a classic martingale , in the Range line you can set the number of points through which the next order will be opened in the event of a losing position.
In the Level line you can set the maximum number of orders opened by the advisor in case of a losing position. In the start lot line you can specify the starting lot of the advisor. Just like in any martingale, in the increment line you can set the lot multiplication coefficient in case of a losing position. In the Tp in money menu, the profit is indicated in the deposit currency. The advisor includes three indicators.
The first is a moving average with a period of 10. The second is the Envelope indicator with a period of 38, as well as the third Derivative Oscillator indicator. All attitudes can be optimized. Initially, I decided to test with advisors with default settings. As it turned out, the adviser was not at all suitable for trading in modern conditions and lost the account to zero.
Based on the results of the analysis of account loss, I decided to optimize the advisor settings. To begin with, the increment multiplication factor was increased to 1.7, and also increased the maximum number of orders to 10. The testing result exceeded all my expectations, and you can see its result in the chart below:
But you should still be careful, because the advisor uses martingale and in case of a protracted trend, it can drain your account.
